Buying tall mens clothing used to be no fun at all – but more clothes retailers are now taking their services online, and extending their range to include a better selection of tall mens clothes.
It’s a lot easier to buy good quality and well fitting tall men’s clothing largely today because the larger clothes manufacturers are realizing that the population are actually getting taller. Each new generation is certainly taller than the last. You can now buy suits in many different lengths and fittings which are perfect if you’re in the 38″ and up inseam group.
Tall Men’s Clothing Tips
Since the choice of tall men clothing is now catching up with more mainstream clothing lines, I thought I’d put together a few tips I managed to glean from a fashion designer friend of mine:
Being tall isn’t the only outsize fittings we need – tall men generally have big feet too. When buying shoes and trainers look for models that have a very strong and supportive sole. Being tall we are generally a good bit heavier than the “average man in the street” so our feet have a lot more load on them. Giving them extra support will be well worth the effort.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match colors when you buy your tall mens clothing, because we tall guys can wear colors in ways that shorter guys can’t – light colored chinos and a dark sports top look really good together, but can make a shorter guy look top heavy. If you’re a heavy guy as well as tall, always go for the darker colors as they help give a more slender impression. If you’re tall and slim, then lighter colors will help add a little bulk to your appearance.
Tall Men’s Clothing Accessories
When it comes to tall men clothes accessories, one of the best tools you have to enhance your appearance is a good quality belt. This will help highlight both your upper and lower body.
A few months ago my partner bought me a rather special birthday present (I wasn’t convinced about it at first but really appreciated it in the end) – it was a shopping trip with a personal makeover stylist. She met me at a well known mens clothing store (which also had a fairly extensive range of tall mens clothes) and helped me mix and match various items of clothing to create a really good look (my partner thought so too). If you get the opportunity, or have a personal stylist in your area, I really can recommend you use their service – for me it was well worth the effort – she helped coordinate tall men’s clothing in a way that I probably never could.
