Big And Tall Mens Clothing
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but there seems to be an increasing number of big and tall mens clothing stores springing up on the internet lately. It’s great news of course, and means as big and tall men we can now get access to some hopefully better fitting and much better looking clothes for our wardrobes.

Big and tall mens clothing
Once you start getting into 36″ inseam and up (I’m 40″ myself) finding trousers or jeans (and don’t even mention tall mens suits) gets pretty much impossible if you’re shopping in the high street or local shopping mall. I guess this is the main reason I see so many big and/or tall people who look like they’re wearing a few yards of cloth sacking or something strewn together out of an old army blanket.
The good news is that it doesn’t have to be like that anymore. I suspect that some of the bigger clothes manufacturers are realizing that people are getting bigger and taller (the taller bit is down to evolution, but the “bigger” aspect is probably due to lack of education regarding healthy eating practices). Either way, these manufacturers are noticing this trend and extending their ranges to include specific big & tall mens clothing lines.
With the increase in big & tall mens clothing stores online, I managed to track down a couple of fashion designers who gave me some tips on what type and style of clothes would best suit big and/or tall men.
Get the right material. Don’t pick a fabric that clings to your skin. When clothes start to stick to you (for whatever reason) they will naturally “enhance” your outline and figure. Natural fabrics (like cotton and wool) will hang better and can be fitted to your shape better without risk of clinging.
Spend time trying on clothes to make sure they fit well. Don’t just opt for those large baggy sports clothes. They’re shapeless and not very becoming at all. No matter what size you are, you can still go for the tailored fit to enhance your look – and let’s face it, the better you look the better you feel – so make a little extra effort when looking through those big and tall mens clothing racks. If you’re into big mens suits, the single breast option is a much better choice.
Choose colors carefully. Colors can have lots of different effects on how clothes look on a person – especially with big & tall mens clothing. If you dress in as few colors as possible (a single color is even better) the effect will be to make you look more streamlined. Dark colors are definitely our friends.
Buy quality underwear – there, I’ve said it. Buy underwear that helps enhance your figure not highlight all the negative spots that you’d rather cover up.
